DeMarcus Austin
Owner & Founder of From Emond
I decided to become a self improvement blogger because I went through a period of immense solitude.
I love to write and share my advice with others, so I wanted to document and share my journey with others. It’s relieving to know others go through similar struggles, so I’m more than happy to be of comfort to others like myself.

Owner & Foundermy journey.
Growing up, I always had a smile on my face. You’d think I was the happiest little boy alive. And for a while, I was — seriously!
But it was around my sophomore year of high school that I felt a shift in my mental health. I didn’t want to believe the ‘it’s your hardest year’ allegations.
Turns out I had to learn that the hard way. I barely had any friends (and the ones that I did have weren’t very loyal). Plus, my poor social skills had gotten the best of me. I felt like I lost myself.
After so long, I got tired of living the same day over and over again. It was a constant, seemingly never-ending cycle. I’d wake up feeling optimistic and wanting to improve my circumstances, but I’d procrastinate for the rest of the day and then critique the heck out of myself.
At the end of 2023, I decided to put an end to the cycle. I’ve started to put in action. Because researching and complaining without putting in work is useless.
I’ve finally started to develop positive, healthy habits that are changing my life for the better. I know that this healing journey has many bumps on the road, but I’m willing to tackle them.

Here are some fun facts about me:
- In a world without Chick-fil-A, I don’t know if I could survive.
- I’m (not-so-secretly) an introvert. But, if I’m comfortable around you, I can chat the day away!
- Until September 2023, I had never had a dog. But my youngest brother, Calebb, practically begged for one and now we have 2 Goldendoodles. They’ve massively contributed to my healing journey!
- When I’m not writing, I’m hangin’ with family, watching Netflix, or reading up on some fun facts.
- My middle name, Emond, means “prosperous protector.”
- I’m a HUGE grammar freak… but I won’t go too wild with it.
- I’ve always wanted to be a pediatrician and have longed to help people with any aspect of their health. This blog has helped me do that in more ways than one!
