Looking for something to do when you’re bored? Here are 69 hobbies for adults to enjoy during your free time!
Looking for some fun hobbies to enjoy during your down time?
From time to time, someone will ask me the daunting question: “So, what do you like to do for fun?” I swear, that question always gets me! I don’t know if it’s because I rarely have free-time or I truly don’t do that much “fun stuff.” But, over time, I’ve found quite a few fun activities that I enjoy by myself and with others.
If you’re looking for things to do when you’re bored or alone, or are at the start of your self-growth journey, I’m giving you 67 hobby ideas. Enjoy these either on your own or find someone who enjoys these same things. I’ll tell you all about what hobbies are, why you should have them, and much more.
Are you ready? Let’s get into it!
This post is all about hobbies for adults.
What are hobbies?
Have you ever been asked, “What do you like to do for fun?” and then blanked? Yeah, I used to do that, too. That’s when I realized I didn’t have any hobbies.
Or, maybe I just didn’t know what hobbies were. Chances are you’re in the same boat, so let me educate you.
A hobby is something that you like to do during your spare or free time. Ideally, it shouldn’t cause you any stress. It gives you a sense of escape and freedom from your daily duties like work, school, and other tasks.
While it doesn’t have to be anything too serious, a hobby should allow you to express a different side of you. This is usually an artistic or creative element.
With this in mind, you might realize that you already have quite a few hobbies! You probably just didn’t know what they were.
And now you want more ideas!
Or you’re on the other side of the spectrum: you don’t know where to start. That’s where I can come in to help!
Here’s a tip: try not to make money from all your hobbies. That’s when they’ll start to feel like jobs. You don’t want 10 different jobs, do you?
I don’t either.
Why should you have hobbies?
We should all have hobbies. The great thing about them is that there’s all different kinds.
No matter what kind of person you are — introverted or extroverted, artistic or not — there’s a hobby for you.
There are hobbies that are on the pricier side and there are ones that are completely free.
Also, they help form a sense of community. For example, if you love to read, you can join a local or online book club. How fun does that sound?!
It feels so good to connect with people who have the same interests as you! Especially if the people in your life aren’t so interested in those things.
Hobbies are great for filling boredom.
When you’re bored, you probably feel like you have to rush to do something with that space. Hobbies are good for this.
On a bigger scale, hobbies can help you discover who you are as a person.
You don’t feel like you’re tied to your job, family, or significant other when you’re enjoying a hobby. It truly gives you something for you to love.
When you spend time doing things you love, you nourish your soul and deepen your relationship with yourself.
How to Find a Hobby:
Just try different things! Don’t get frustrated or discouraged if you try something and don’t like it.
This is a good thing. You’re getting out of your comfort zone and doing things you usually wouldn’t do.
Plus, you’re probably just getting used to it. Don’t quit unless you know you’d rather do something a little more enjoyable.
You don’t have to be good at it.
As long as you’re enjoying it, that’s what matters most.
Try this: challenge yourself to do something for a month before you consider giving up. This way, you’ll really get a feel of whether you like it or not.
It’ll take time to find a hobby you really love, but it’s worth it.
How to Find Time for Hobbies:
I get it. You most likely have a lot to manage in your life, like:
- relationships
- family
- school
- work
- finances
You’re probably thinking: “I barely have enough time for what I’m already doing, let alone a hobby!”
Well, let me tell you something. You have to make time! As simple as it is, it’s true.
If you really want it, you’ll make time for it. Do you want to hear that? Probably not, but I’ve gotta say it.
Look at your weekly schedule and make sure you fit in time to do something for yourself. I’m not saying you have to sacrifice something important like work.
Obviously you need to prioritize that!
I mean, you wanna keep the lights on, right?
But, see if you have any free time and use that time to do something — anything — that fulfills you. Use my free daily planner below to help!
This world is bonkers. At some point, you oughta be somewhat selfish and do something you enjoy!
I personally see no shame in it. You have to (try to) stay sane when your environment is unstable.
FREE DAILY PLANNER
My planner is the perfect simple, yet effective daily tool to help you keep your daily life in order. It includes a task list, a notes section, and my favorite part: a daily evaluation, where you reflect on your day!

How to Find Cheap Hobbies:
Here in the good ‘ole USA, you can barely get a cart full of groceries for $200.
What the heck?
I understand why you feel you don’t have enough money for joyful activities.
Here’s some advice.
Look at your subscriptions and see if there’s one that you don’t use that much. Cancel it and put that money toward something you’d actually enjoy.
That way, the money isn’t going to waste!
You could also try some free hobbies. I’ll give you 16 ideas in the list below, so check those out.
I don’t want you to get overwhelmed, so just pick 1-2 ideas to start with.
Try them for a bit and see how you like them. Then, if you want to try more, add them to your daily/weekly routine however you see fit.
Hobbies for Adults:
Affordable Hobbies:
In this economy, it’s becoming harder and harder to find affordable things to indulge in. That’s why I’m putting in an effort to give you some free hobby ideas.
You shouldn’t always have to pay a ton to do something fun!
1. PLAY OR WATCH GAMES
I don’t think gaming will ever go out of style. There are so many fun games to watch and play.
I loved playing Minecraft as a kid. I’d follow guided YouTube tutorials and build huge mansions. It was suepr fun.
I also love:
- iMessage games
- Connect 4
- Badminton
- Deal or No Deal
- Wheel of Fortune
- Family Feud
And no: that’s not childish at all. You’re never too old to enjoy a good ‘ole game. So crank out that gaming console, stream a game, or head outside and have a good time!
2. LEARN SOME FUN FACTS
If you thought your days of learning ended when you graduated high school or college, I’m afraid to tell you this…
You’ve got the wrong idea!
Just because you finished learning in an academic setting, that doesn’t mean you have to stop learning in general.
It’s almost overwhelming, the amount of information you can learn. It’s almost like the facts are never-ending.
But I absolutely love that! When I’m bored, I like to search for fun facts on Google. For example, I’ll search, ‘facts about the human body.’
Then I’ll end up spending the next hour learning all about how our bodies work for us, not against us — or some other eye-opening idea.
It’s so fascinating. But it doesn’t end there. You can educate yourself about any small topic you’re passinate about, like:
- Dogs
- Food
- Psychology
- Different body parts
- History
3. JOURNAL
By this point you probably already know how much I love journaling… So I won’t say too much!
BUT — any time you want to express your thoughts and feelings, grab that journal and write away. Journaling can be so, so fun.
4. DESIGN WEBSITES
Are you a tech nerd like myself?
When I started my blog, I spent a ton of time editing my website on SquareSpace. No joke: I’d change my theme and re-launch my website just about every other week.
I was OBSESSED with doing this and it was a pretty fun and affordable hobby.
You definitely don’t need a blog or any type of online presence to do this.
Just sign up for an account, take advantage of the 14-day free trial, and start designing!
5. BINGE-WATCH SOME MOVIES
After a long, productive day, I love to go to the movies with my mom and younger brother, Calebb.
Our local movie theater has pretty good discounts, so we like to go there and spend some quality time together.
If you love a good movie, you should do the same! Visit your local theater and enjoy a showing.
Or if the theater isn’t your vibe, there are lots of free movies on YouTube.
I’m actually shocked at how many good movies they have on there. If there’s an older movie you want to watch, chances are they have it available for you watch at no cost!
6. FIND YOUR FUTURE HOME
When I was younger, I used to LOVE looking at big houses on Zillow. It was probably one of my favorite things to do. I’d search for all kinds of houses in my area — even ones in cities that I’ve never been to!
Whether you’re actually house-hunting or just want something fun to do, I definitely recommend this.
7. REMINISCE ON MEMORIES
Sometimes when I’m feeling really nostalgic, I’ll go on my mom’s Google Photos account and look at my childhood photos.
Not gonna lie, it’s kind of sad at times. But, it’s nice to look back and remember how good of a childhood I had.
8. LEARN SOME NEW WORDS
Before you say, “Learn new words? That’s boring!” it’s actually interesting.
After so long, you get tired of using the same words and phrases over and over again. You might want to sharpen your vocab.
That’s when you can pull out a good ‘ole dictionary.
Or you could even use an app that sends you a word everyday. I’ve done this before and I’ve learned quite few words that I now use often.
9. PLAN YOUR DREAM LIFE
I like to think a lot about the future (sometimes a little too much, but that’s neither here nor there).
I think about my future:
- Relationships
- House
- Career
- Education
- Aesthetic
10. WATCH MUSIC REACTION VIDEOS
If you’re a music fan like myself, you’ll probably love to watch music reaction videos.
These are videos where a content creator sits down and reacts to an album, song, or live performance.
Since my family and friends don’t really care much for music, I have to live vicariously through my favorite music reactors.
They definitely share my love of music. Some of my favorite ones on YouTube and Patreon are:
- DeviDubz
- Caitlin Marie
- Zach Campbell
- Songs from a Suitcase
- Kioshi Warrior
THINK: Who’s your favorite music artist? Tell me in the comments!
11. MAKE CURATED PLAYLISTS
More on music: make some playlists. But not just any regular playlist; make playlists for specific moods and vibes.
Make some for when you’re feeling happy, excited, sad, and all other types of emotions.
Then, when you’re feeling those emotions, put on the playlist to match your mood.
I have a playlist titled ‘NOSTALGIA’ and it truly hits. It has all of my favorite songs from 10+ years ago. Almost all of the songs bring up a specific period in my life.
12. WATCH HOUSE TOURS
There’s something so fascinating about house tours. Maybe the inspirational factor? Whatever it is, I love watching them.
From big to small, I can sit and watch house tours all day. I love seeing how people decorate their houses and give them a unique, home-y feel.
13. LISTEN TO STORYTIMES
I remember my phase where I couldn’t stop listening to storytimes on YouTube. Some of my favorites were from Trinity Jay and LocalBlackChild.
It almost feels like they’re talking to you and they’re spilling all the tea. It’s piping hot! There’s all kinds of storytimes.
And some are definitely more serious than others. Just like house tours, I could listen to them all day.
14. MAKE PINTEREST BOARDS
Pinterest is quite a special app these days. It isn’t your typical social media platform.
You don’t have to worry about comparing yourself to your peers or being influenced to buy tons of different products you never knew about.
No; none of that. Instead, it’s pretty chill! You scroll through a feed of all your interests, whether that’s home decor, outfit inspo, travel life, college life, or DIY.
I couldn’t even tell you when I started using Pinterest. I love it as a content creator and content consumer.
15. DO CROSSWORD PUZZLES
Want to do something screen-free? Do some crossword puzzles!
These will really get your brain working. You need time, thinking, and concentration to do them. All these are important skills to have.
And the great part is that they’re so cheap, too. I mean, you could pick some up at your local dollar store for $1 each. Go get yourself a collection!
16. BUILD LEGO SETS
No, no; you’re not too old to build Lego sets. I see people on YouTube and TikTok who build straight-up masterpieces with these things.
I always think, “Wow, that looks so cool!”
Some of the sets can get a bit pricey, but others are pretty affordable. So, grab a friend (or just yourself) and spend some time making some of these cool sets.
At-home Hobbies:
If you’re more of an introvert or “homebody,” these are great hobbies to try.
17. BAKE SOME DELICIOUS TREATS
Who could pass up an ooey-gooey home-baked chocolate chip cookie? I’d pay you for some of these.
Baking is such a fun at-home hobby. There are endless recipes out there. And you don’t have to stick to one diet, either.
There are recipes for all sorts of people, so go and find some that you think you’ll like.
And the best part? You’ve got yourself a delicious treat to enjoy when you’re done baking!
18. BE YOUR OWN PERSONAL CHEF
Cooking is another great hobby to take on. It’s also important to know how to cook, so that’s a plus.
There are recipes everywhere! Seeing all of them is almost overwhelming. But that means you have limitless options to choose from!
You don’t have to be Gordon Ramsey or anything like that. Just start small and work your way up to more of an advanced-level cook.
I’m sure you’ll be able to make some scrumptious, finger-licking foods!
19. BE AN AVID CONCERT-GOER
Love music? Enjoy the live experience and become an avid concert-goer.
You might be thinking: “But concerts are so expensive.”
I get it. That could be true, but there are many different contests and raffles that you can enter to get free tickets.
I see several people on TikTok and YouTube who go to hundreds of concerts for either free or dirt-cheap.
I’m kind of jealous of them because, seriously? I’d love to go to that many concerts! I’m definitely going to have to learn their skills.
20. DANCE THE NIGHT AWAY
Dancing is beautiful way to release. To release your emotions and physical feelings. You can take dance classes around you, or even look for free ones on YouTube.
21. TIDY UP YOUR SPACE
Before you say, “Cleaning isn’t really that fun,” allow me to convince you.
Granted, cleaning may not be the most fun thing in the world. But, have you ever realized that it can be sort of therapeutic sometimes?
Like, have you ever slowed down and enjoyed wiping down the counters or washing a few dishes?
Don’t rush through the process. Slow down and actually enjoy it!
22. SING LIKE NOBODY’S LISTENING
I think we all have a little tune in us. Singing is a fun way to express your emotions and even show off your talents.
Don’t worry; you don’t have to be Whitney Houston or Mariah Carey. Just do your own little thing and have fun doing it!
23. SHARPEN YOUR PENMANSHIP
Sometimes when I’m bored, I like to practice my handwriting. If I say so myself, I have pretty good handwriting. But there’s always room for improvement!
I see lots of calligraphy videos on TikTok. That style of writing is gorgeous and I’d love to learn how to write like that.
This is your sign to go and sharpen your penmanship!
24. CUDDLE WITH YOUR FURRY BABY
Alright, this is probably my favorite thing to do when I’m bored.
I’ll go downstairs for something as simple as filling up my water bottle and before you know it, I’ve spent an hour playing with my Goldendoodles.
It happens far more often than you’d think. But I’m never mad at it.
If you have a dog or cat, spend some time with them when you’re bored or stressed.
25. WATCH MUKBANGS
OK, here’s a secret: I like to watch mukbangs when I have a strong fast-food craving. Or when I have a really good meal in front of me.
I feel like I’m eating with them!
I understand how you’d think watching someone eat might be weird. I mean, why would you want to do that?!
It’s fun! And it satisfies your cravings pretty well. At least until you’re able to go out and get that spicy deluxe meal from Chick-fil-A (haha).
26. IMPRESS PEOPLE WITH YOUR BILINGUAL STATUS
If you’re bilingual, I’m definitely jealous of you.
It’s hard to learn another language for several reasons, so it’s always impressive if you took the time and effort to do it.
Plus, being able to speak more than one langauge is helpful. It allows you to communicate with more people and form stronger connections.
That’s especially helpful in certain job fields — specifically anything where you have direct conversations with people.
One helpful tip I learned from TikTok is to watch shows in the language you’re trying to learn. That’ll help you learn it a lot quicker.
27. DOCUMENT EVERY DETAIL OF YOUR LIFE
Life is short. I’m sure we know that by now, especially with recent events.
So grab a camera and record every small detail. I don’t care if it’s as simple as going grocery shopping. Maybe someday you’ll want to look back on that day.
I know I’m a huge memories person, so this is definitely important to me.
28. DO SOME GARDENING
Gardening is another one of those labor-intensive, yet rewarding hobbies. You have to do a lot of research to make sure you don’t make too many mistakes.
I said too many because you’ll likely make a few once you start.
But you’ll learn from those and hopefully grow some beautiful, delicious fruits and veggies!
I’d love to start my own garden in the near future. Something about it feels so special and almost spiritual in a way.
29. PRACTICE LATTE ART
If you’re a TikTok user (or love going to coffee shops), you probably know all about latte art.
It’s a creative way of making a drink look even more aesthetic than it already does.
I won’t lie; some of the designs look SICK! People really are talented.
You can find tutorials on TikTok and YouTube. Start simple and get more intricate as time goes on.
FREE DAILY JOURNAL
This journal is my favorite because it includes a section to mark how you’re feeling before you start writing, plus just enough lines to let all your feelings out.
Journaling is absolutely one of my favorite ways to practice emotional/mental self care, and my free daily journal can help you do just that.

Adventurous & Physical Hobbies:
Feeling adventurous? These are great hobbies to get your body moving.
30. ROLLER SKATING
I wouldn’t consider myself the best roller skater, but I think I’ve got a few skills. I like to go to our local skating rink every now and then.
Calebb and I don’t go that often, so it’s really fun when we do.
I’m downright exhausted by the time I finish my 2-hour session, so it’s definitely a good workout.
Buy yourself some good skates (around $100 on Amazon) and go skate! There are some great creators on TikTok who teach beginners how to skate. So if you’re nervous, don’t be!
31. BIKING
When I was younger, I’d ride bikes with CaMerian all the time. I mean, we’d discover our whole neighborhood in just a week!
I like biking because it’s actually enjoyable and a workout at the same time.
32. WALKING
Walking has to be one of the simplest, yet best activities to do. You can do it when:
- you need to get something off your chest
- you just ate a big meal
- you need a breath of fresh air
- you don’t feel like doing a big, long workout
Seriously, walking is the best. Grab some good walking shoes and go walk a few miles!
33. BOWLING
Yes, bowling is a game, but you need some arm strength to do it. This is another fun and sporty hobby you can enjoy.
I know bowling can be expensive these days (like everything else). Try to get a pass so you don’t have to spend as much money every time you go.
Also, you can jazz things up and get your own custom bowling ball(s). Oh, and buy your own shoes. That’ll really take it to the next level!
34. BADMINTON
If you asked me what my favorite sport was, I’d say badminton. I LOVE this game because it’s easy and fun to play. Plus, I feel like not that many people know about it.
So I’m here to advocate for it (haha).
I started playing this in my high school PE classes. It was the one thing in PE that I actually looked forward to, quite frankly.
35. VOLLEYBALL
Look, you don’t have to be Venus or Serena Williams to enjoy a good ‘ole game of volleyball. Seriously, just buy some good gear and get started!
Calebb randomly fell in love with volleyball and now he even plays it inside the house. That’s definitely not the best idea but, you know, KIDS!
36. GOLF
If you’re feeling luxorious, pick up golfing as your next hobby. I say “luxorious” as a warning because this is NOT a cheap hobby.
Golf clubs can go upwards of $1,000. That’s wild for such a seemingly simple sport.
It’s actually pretty calm, though. I’ve gone golfing a few times and I enjoyed it every time.
37. FOOD TASTING
Are you a foodie? Well, food-tasting could become one of your favorite hobbies.
Check out some local food-tasting places and events. They happen all the time — especially in bigger cities. There’s food you can try from all cultures, so it’s a great way to expand your taste palet.
38. SIGHTSEEING
Speaking of big cities, go and be a tourist in yours! See different attractions and famous buildings. Make sure to take lots of pictures for memories!
39. YOGA
Yoga has always been on-trend, and for good reason. When you practice yoga, you are exercising your mind, body, and soul. All 3 essential parts that make up you.
You definitely don’t have to splurge on an expensive yoga studio. Just go on YouTube and look for some yoga videos.
There’s all kinds, so I’m sure you can find some you enjoy!
40. MEDITATING
Similar to yoga, meditating allows you to let go of whatever you’re stressing about. And don’t be shy to start, either!
You don’t have to worry about distractions — those will happen no matter what. Just try to sit in peace.
When I meditate, I love to follow guided meditations on Calm. Like the name suggests, the whole experience is really calming.
I feel relaxed and ready to conquer the (rest of) the day after my session.
Creative Hobbies:
These are some good ideas if you’re looking to discover your creative side. I believe we should all do this, so check these hobbies out sometime!
41. GRAPHIC DESIGN
I didn’t know how much I loved creating different graphics and things until I started my blog. This allowed me to express my creativity in a way that I’ve never done before.
Canva is practically my best friend. I use for:
- Resumes
- Planners
- Email headers
- Pinterest pins
- Instagram photos
- …and so much more!
I suggest going on Canva or a similar program and trying to create different graphics. You definitely don’t need to be a pro or anything like that.
Do what feels fun and creative!
42. BLOGGING
I started my blog in March of 2022. I can’t tell you how much I’ve learned on this journey so far. I actually started as a hobby!
I hope it can become a source of inspiration and guidance at some point.
Now, this is one of those tricky hobbies. As much as I love my blog, it can get a bit stressful at times, like any other job.
When you turn your hobby into a full-time job, it’s not as fun or enjoyable as it used to be.
But, I wouldn’t trade this for the world! I really love writing posts and helping you become a healed version of yourself.
43. WRITING
If you have a way with words, lean more into that! Writing is a fun thing to do when you’re bored or have some down time. There are tons of things you can write, like:
- Poetry
- Short stories
- (Auto)biographies
- Novels
- Children’s books
44. PAINTING
You probably loved painting as a kid, but who says you can’t do it as an adult?
Go to your local arts and crafts store to buy some art supplies. You don’t really need much. Just get:
- Paint
- Paint brushes
- Easel
- Canvases
And if you don’t feel like doing that, there are many starter paint kits to choose from on Amazon.
45. DIGITAL ART
If you’re more of a digital person, you might enjoy digital art. You can make beautiful pieces on your phone, tablet, or other similar device.
Make things like:
- Wallpapers
- Wall art
- Abstracts
46. MAKE EDITS
Edits are a compilation of videos with cool effects and filters, and then you throw some music over it. I used to make these in 2018, back when they were really popular.
I think they’re coming back, so if you want to try it out, go ahead!
47. FILM VLOGS
Look, you’re probably already acting like a YouTuber in your head everyday. So why not turn that into reality?
Show the world what you’ve got! There’s room for you on the platform. Create the content that you feel inclined to make.
These vlogs can be highly produced with a fancy editing software like Final Cut Pro. Or, keep it simple and do minimal editing on iMovie or CapCut.
48. MAKE A QUOTE ACCOUNT ON INSTAGRAM
I love scrolling on Instagram and stopping any time I see a motivational or eye-opening quote.
Quote accounts are some of the most popular accounts on Instagram.
They’re fairly easy to make, too (even I had one at one point!). Search for some good quotes, use Canva to create the graphics, and there you have it!
49. LEARN TO PLAY AN INSTRUMENT
Love music and learning? Try learning to play an instrument!
I always loved playing the recorder when I was younger.
So, I really want to play the flute at some point. Oh, and the piano would be nice, too.
You can either teach yourself or get private lessons. It’d definitely be cheaper to learn from YouTube, but you might like private lessons better. Do what works for you!
50. MAKE LIVE INSTRUMENTATIONS
I’ll admit: when I’m bored, I act as if I’m one of my favorite artists and perform an hour-long concert in my bedroom.
I put together a set-list, imagine a stage, dress up, and everything.
Call me delusional if you want, but it’s so fun.
I usually play the live instrumentals on YouTube. And let me say, those creators are beyond talented.
They deserve a spot in someone’s professional band.
I can tell it’d take some getting used to. But that’s part of what makes it a hobby. You don’t have to take it too serious or stress yourself out about it.
51. PHOTOGRAPHY
Lights, camera, action! Photography is another creative hobby to pick up. Take it from any angle that you want (no pun intended).
Photograph yourself, other people, different animals, buildings — I mean, the sky is the limit with this hobby. And then editing?
Yeah, you’ll be busy with photography.
52. CRAFTS
Live your Pinterest dreams to the fullest and do some crafts. These can either be big or small; detailed or simple. Do it how ever you want!
You’ve probably got Pinterest boards full of inspiration, so go and browse those to get started. Go to your local crafts store to buy some supplies.
53. KNITTING
I’ve always thought knitting was more for the elderly folks. But, I’m slowly realizing that even people my age love to do it as a hobby. And it actually looks pretty fun!
Plus you get a warm sweater out the deal? Sign me up!
54. CANDLE-MAKING
Sure, candles from candle stores are great and all. But you can’t beat making your own from scratch.
You can decide exactly what to put in it. And you’re putting that good TLC into the process!
55. DESIGN SHIRTS
Look, a simple t-shirt could easily be $30+ these days. All for the simplest design. Why would you do that when you could make your own?
56. LEARN TO DO YOUR HAIR
Look, getting your hair done isn’t cheap. And sometimes it isn’t too fun, either.
But, when you do it yourself, it’s cheaper and you’re building a strong, healthy relationship with your hair.
I get it. Some hair textures require a little more love. But that’s why you have to spend time with your hair, learn more about it, and nuture it.
Give it the TLC that it deserves. Try different hairstyles, creams, conditioners, oils, shampoos, and all of the above!
57. LEARN TO DO YOUR MAKEUP
Doing your makeup can be a fun hobby! It allows you to express your creativity and individuality.
There are tons of tutorials on YouTube you can watch to get started.
Don’t feel stressed if you don’t like how it turns out in the beginning. You’re just starting, and you’ll get better as you do it more and more.
58. LEARN TO DO YOUR NAILS
Knowing how to do your own nails is a cool experience. Experiment with different shapes, colors, and other things!
FREE SELF CARE ACTIVITIES LIST
Would you like a free self care activities list?
I know it can be difficult to think of different self care ideas, so I did the work for you!
I created a FREE list of 81 self care activities that you can enjoy.

Community-building Hobbies:
Like I said earlier, it feels good to connect with others on a similar subject. These are great hobbies for doing just that!
59. EDUCATE YOURSELF ON something interesting
Like I said earlier, learning doesn’t stop when you graduate high school/college. In fact, you probably learn more out of school than you do in school.
Take that with a grain of salt!
If there’s something you want to learn more about, do it! Go on Google and fill your brain with more knowledge. It’s healthy for you overall.
60. READ BOOKS & JOIN BOOK CLUBS
Reading is one of the best hobbies. It helps to improve your imagination, creativity, comprehension, and attention.
If you allow yourself, you get lost in the book for hours. I love when that happens!
Don’t have any books? Here are some solutions:
- Go to your local library and check out a book
- Ask your friend if they have any books you could borrow
- Get an Audible subscription
- Listen to audiobooks on YouTube
61. COLLECT CDS
Collecting CDs isn’t as common as it used to be, but it’s still a good community-building hobby. I just started and I’m looking forward to finding more CDs to add to my collection.
It’s nice to have the physical version of an album to switch things up.
Sometimes you might not want to blast Taylor Swift or Beyonce in your ears!
62. READ ONLINE FORUMS
Online forums like Reddit, Quora, and Twitter are such a great source of community.
People gather on there to share their knowledge on a wide range of topics, from technology all the way to politics.
Forums like these — especially Reddit — have helped me with several aspects of my life, like college and the blog you’re reading.
If there’s something you want to learn a little more about, do this:
Type in your search term and add the word ‘Reddit’ or ‘Quora’ at the end. For example: “best places to eat in Chicago Reddit”
This way, you’ll likely get opinions from people who have actually eaten in Chicago and maybe even have lived there for years.
(They usually recommend some really great restaurants, by the way!)
63. LISTEN TO PODCASTS
Listening to podcasts is great for whenever you’re cleaning, driving, working, or are plain ‘ole bored. I’m not the biggest podcast person, but I do have 3 that I regularly listen to:
- JathalTEA Podcast
- Take Away My Mic
- The Realysst
64. ATTEND BINGO NIGHT
Bingo is a fun, laid-back game for anyone to enjoy. No, it’s not just for the elderly. I’m only 18 and I’ll never turn down a game of bingo.
Look in your area and see if anyone’s hosting a bingo night. Go and have a good time!
65. FIND A SERIES TO BINGE
There’s no way I could’ve excluded this from the list! I love to binge-watch an entertaining show.
The last one I binged was Swarm. I actually didn’t finish it because it got pretty bloody, but I did enjoy it until then.
Some other shows worth binging are:
- Abbott Elementary
- Bel-Air
- Blood & Water
- Ginny & Georgia
- Never Have I Ever
- Jane the Virgin
- iCarly (2021)
66. WATCH SPORTS
You may not like to play sports, but watching them is a different thing. Watching sports really brings out the rage in you, haha.
I love to watch sports like badminton and volleyball. But you can watch any kind of sport!
67. READ BLOG POSTS
Yes, short-form content is in right now, but blog posts will always be helpful. You can’t always get all the information you need with shorter videos. Or even in a video in general!
I love reading a good, in-depth post — especially if it’s related to self-growth.
You might prefer reading over watching a video, and blog posts are great for that. There are so many categories you could enjoy, like:
- Traveling
- DIY
- Fashion
- Lifestyle
- Cooking
- Finance
- Business
Let’s recap!
We made it to the end of the post!
Today, we talked about hobbies for adults.
It’s important to have hobbies so you can spend quality time with yourself. I hope this list of 67 hobbies gave you a few ideas to try.
Don’t overwhelm yourself, though! Just pick a few and start from there.
Please remember to take time to take care of yourself!
I know, in this economy, it can be hard to find free things to do that are fun. That’s why I put together a list of 7 free self care activities to enjoy today!
In the midst of chaos, don’t forget to smile,
DeMarcus – your self care buddy
